Maharashtra Weather Update: Yellow Alert in Amravati, Akola and Wardha as Temperatures Cross 40°C. Maharashtra faces intense early summer heat in March with temperatures crossing 40°C in Amravati. IMD issues a yellow alert for three Vidarbha districts and warns of further rise in temperatures.

The summer heat has intensified across Maharashtra much earlier than usual, with weather conditions resembling peak May temperatures in early March. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of a further rise in temperatures and issued a yellow alert for Amravati, Akola and Wardha districts in the Vidarbha region.

According to the IMD, Amravati has already recorded temperatures above 40°C, and the mercury is expected to climb further over the next few days. Authorities have advised residents to take precautions and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun.

On March 8, several parts of the state are expected to experience hot and humid conditions, especially in coastal regions.

Konkan Region

In the Konkan belt, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, hot and humid weather is likely to persist. Mumbai is expected to record maximum temperatures between 34°C and 38°C, while minimum temperatures may range from 23°C to 26°C. High humidity levels are expected to make conditions feel more uncomfortable.

Western Maharashtra

Cities such as Pune, Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur are likely to experience dry and hot weather. Pune’s temperatures are expected to range between 35°C and 38°C during the day, while night temperatures may drop to 18°C to 21°C.

North Maharashtra

In Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar, the daytime temperatures are expected to rise significantly. Nashik may record 34°C to 37°C during the day and 19°C to 22°C at night.

Marathwada

Districts including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani and Dharashiv are expected to experience hot and dry conditions, with maximum temperatures ranging between 35°C and 38°C and minimum temperatures between 20°C and 23°C.

Vidarbha Records Highest Temperatures

The Vidarbha region, covering Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Buldhana, is likely to witness the most intense heat. Maximum temperatures could range between 36°C and 41°C, while minimum temperatures may remain between 21°C and 24°C.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for heat conditions in Amravati, Akola and Wardha, urging residents to remain cautious.

Advisory for Citizens

With temperatures rising sharply, authorities have advised people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and watch for symptoms of heat-related illnesses.

Overall, March 8 is expected to bring strong summer-like conditions across Maharashtra, indicating an early onset of intense heat across the state.
