Pune, March 12, 2026: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has assured residents that the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for domestic cooking needs and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for vehicles in Pune will remain fully uninterrupted.

The assurance comes in line with directives issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to ensure adequate availability of natural gas for household consumption across the country. Under the Natural Gas (Supply Regulation) Order, 2026, notified on March 9, the government has mandated 100% allocation of natural gas for domestic use to prevent any disruption in supply.

Despite global transportation disruptions of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, MNGL stated that residents in Pune and surrounding areas will not face shortages of PNG or CNG.

According to the company, domestic PNG consumers and CNG supply for transport remain its top priority. MNGL currently operates an extensive gas distribution network of nearly 8,000 inch-kilometres of pipelines and more than 125 CNG stations across areas under the Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The company presently caters to around 8 lakh domestic PNG connections and provides fuel for more than 5.5 lakh CNG vehicles, ensuring consistent supply to households and the transport sector.

With the support of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, MNGL is also promoting wider adoption of PNG under the National PNG Drive 2.0, a nationwide initiative aimed at increasing the share of natural gas in India’s energy mix from 6% to 15%. The campaign focuses on expanding PNG usage across residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

Interested consumers can apply for new PNG connections by contacting MNGL via email at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), through the “My MNGL” mobile application, by calling the toll-free number 1800 266 2696, or by visiting the official website mngl.in.

MNGL officials highlighted that PNG is considered one of the cleanest and safest cooking fuels. It is cost-effective, convenient and eliminates the need for LPG cylinders, thereby saving kitchen space.

Sujit Ruiikar, Vice President (Marketing) at MNGL, reiterated that following the central government’s directive, domestic PNG supply will continue without interruption and there is no shortage of natural gas for household use.
