Lonavala, 13th March: Traffic towards Mumbai faced a temporary disruption Friday morning when a truck carrying a consignment of fish overturned near the Amritanjan Bridge in Bor Ghat, a steep stretch of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

The truck was en route from Pune to Mumbai when the driver lost control while descending the slope, causing the vehicle to topple. Two individuals on board suffered minor injuries and were quickly transported to Khopoli Municipal Hospital for treatment. Thankfully, no lives were lost.

Emergency response was swift, with IRB patrol teams, Bor Ghat highway traffic police, Delta Force Maharashtra Security, and the Mrityunjay Devdoot unit reaching the scene to provide assistance and conduct rescue operations. Using a crane, the overturned truck was carefully lifted and relocated to a safe spot, allowing the expressway to be cleared efficiently.

To prevent severe traffic congestion during the recovery, vehicles were temporarily rerouted via Lonavala onto the old Mumbai-Pune highway. This diversion ensured some movement while minimizing delays. After the truck was removed, normal traffic resumed, with authorities confirming smooth flow along the expressway.

Khopoli police have initiated a thorough investigation to determine the factors that led to the accident. Rapid action by multiple agencies ensured both the safety of those involved and minimal disruption for commuters on this busy highway.
