Maharashtra Weather Alert: Unseasonal Rain, Thunderstorms Likely in 9 Districts Within 24 Hours
The weather department has issued an alert for unseasonal rain and thunderstorms in nine districts of Maharashtra on March 14. Heatwave conditions are expected to continue across several regions.
The next 24 hours are expected to be crucial for weather conditions in Maharashtra as the India Meteorological Department has warned of unseasonal rainfall along with thunderstorm activity in several parts of the state on March 14. While heatwave-like conditions continue in many regions, sudden weather changes could bring brief relief in the form of rain and strong winds.
According to the forecast, nine districts in the state may experience unseasonal rain accompanied by gusty winds and lightning. Residents have been advised to remain cautious as the combination of rising temperatures and unstable atmospheric conditions may lead to sudden weather disturbances.
In the Konkan region, including Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Palghar, hot and humid weather is expected to prevail. Mumbai is likely to record maximum temperatures between 33°C and 34°C, while minimum temperatures may range from 24°C to 27°C. A yellow alert for heat has been issued for Mumbai, Thane, Raigad and Palghar, urging citizens to take necessary precautions.
Across western Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur and Solapur, dry and warm conditions are expected to continue. However, Satara, Sangli and Solapur have been placed under a yellow alert for unseasonal rain with thunderstorms and lightning. Pune may witness maximum temperatures between 34°C and 37°C, while minimum temperatures are likely to remain between 18°C and 21°C.
In north Maharashtra, districts such as Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon and Nandurbar are expected to see rising temperatures. Nashik may record maximum temperatures ranging from 33°C to 36°C and minimum temperatures between 20°C and 22°C.
Marathwada districts, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani and Dharashiv, will continue to experience hot and dry conditions. Maximum temperatures may range between 34°C and 38°C, while minimum temperatures could remain between 20°C and 23°C. Beed and Dharashiv are likely to receive unseasonal rain with gusty winds, prompting a yellow alert from the weather department.
In the Vidarbha region, Nagpur, Amravati, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli and Buldhana are expected to witness persistent heat. Meanwhile, Bhandara, Gondia and Gadchiroli may experience thunderstorms accompanied by rainfall and gusty winds. Maximum temperatures in Vidarbha are likely to range between 35°C and 39°C, with minimum temperatures between 21°C and 24°C.
Overall, Maharashtra is expected to experience a mix of intense heat and scattered unseasonal rainfall on March 14. Authorities have advised citizens to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight and remain alert during thunderstorm activity.
