Residents of Wanowrie have raised strong objections to the closure of the right-turn entry at Fatima Nagar Junction on the Solapur Highway, a key access point connecting Pune city to the Wanowrie area.

Fatima Nagar Junction serves as a major gateway for vehicles entering Wanowrie from Pune city, with thousands of commuters passing through the intersection daily. The route plays an important role in ensuring smooth connectivity and supporting the local economy of the area.

However, the Pune Police traffic authorities have reportedly closed the right-turn movement at the junction, forcing motorists coming from Pune city to travel nearly 500 meters ahead to take a U-turn and then drive another 500 meters back to reach Wanowrie. Local residents say this change has created inconvenience for daily commuters and is unfair to people living in the area.

Residents claim that several protests have already been held against the decision, but the issue remains unresolved. They allege that the authorities have not adequately considered the difficulties faced by citizens due to the traffic restriction.

To discuss the issue, Prashant Jagtap, corporator from the Wanowrie–Salunke Vihar ward, recently held a meeting with local residents to understand their grievances and explore possible solutions. During the meeting, participants unanimously agreed to intensify their efforts and continue the struggle until the traffic restriction is reviewed.
