Pune: Security Guard Assaulted By Two Unidentified Men At Ganga Kingston Society in NIBM Annex; Residents Demand Swift Police Action
Pune, March 19, 2026: A shocking incident of assault on a security guard has raised serious safety concerns among residents of Ganga Kingston society in NIBM Annexe area in Mohamadwadi of Pune on Thursday evening.
According to the complaint submitted to the Senior Police Inspector of Kalepadal Police Station, the incident occurred at around 7:40 pm at the society’s exit gate. The victim, identified as Devanand Dongare, was reportedly attacked by two unidentified individuals while on duty.
Dongare sustained significant injuries during the assault and required immediate medical attention. He was later treated and received six stitches. The incident has triggered fear and outrage among residents, who have questioned the adequacy of security measures in the locality.
Speaking about the incident, the injured guard alleged that the attackers were intoxicated and attempted to enter the premises without authorization. “Two drunk individuals tried to enter the society forcibly. When I stopped them, they assaulted me, overpowered me, and attacked me with sticks,” he said.
Local residents and activists have demanded strict action against the accused. In a formal complaint, they have urged police authorities to register an FIR, identify the attackers, and ensure their immediate arrest. They have also called for increased police patrolling in the area to prevent such incidents in the future.
Social activist Jaymala Dhankikar, along with other residents, highlighted the urgent need for enhanced security measures, stating that such violent acts pose a serious threat to the safety of society members and staff.
