Petrol Prices Rise In Pune Amid Global Oil Surge Linked To Iran–Israel Conflict

Pune, March 20, 2026: Fuel prices in Pune have increased following a surge in global crude oil rates, driven by escalating tensions between Iran and Israel in the Middle East. The hike has directly impacted consumers, with premium petrol becoming costlier from March 20, 2026.

According to petroleum companies, the price of premium petrol variants such as “Speed” and “Power” has been raised by ₹2.09 per litre. The rate, which previously stood at ₹111.68 per litre, has now increased to ₹113.77 per litre.

Officials attribute the price rise to a sharp increase in global crude oil prices. The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has disrupted oil production and supply chains, especially after reported attacks on energy infrastructure. This has led to volatility in the international oil market.

Experts have also warned that the situation could worsen if disruptions occur in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route through which nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply is transported. Any blockage or escalation in that region could further strain supply and push fuel prices higher.

With global uncertainties continuing, there are concerns that fuel costs in India may see additional increases in the coming days, putting further pressure on household budgets.
