Ahead of Nashik Kumbh Mela 2027, CM Devendra Fadnavis unveils AI-powered ‘Kumbhdoot’ app to enhance crowd control, safety, and real-time information for millions of devotees.
Nashik, Maharashtra: In a major step towards strengthening crowd management and ensuring safety during the upcoming Kumbh Mela, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has launched an AI-powered mobile application named ‘Kumbhdoot’.
The initiative comes in preparation for the grand Kumbh Mela scheduled to be held in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar in 2027, which is expected to witness the arrival of करोड़ों (millions) of devotees from across India and around the world.
The app was unveiled during the India AI Summit 2026 under the Maharashtra Pavilion, where the Chief Minister reviewed several AI-driven projects being implemented across the state.
AI to Drive Crowd Control and Safety
The ‘Kumbhdoot’ app has been designed using advanced artificial intelligence technology to assist authorities in managing massive crowds efficiently. It will enable police and administrative agencies to monitor real-time footfall, predict congestion points, and respond swiftly to emergencies.

Officials stated that the app will play a crucial role in coordinating emergency services and ensuring smooth movement of devotees during peak days of the religious gathering.
Infrastructure Push in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar
In preparation for the mega event, large-scale infrastructure development works are underway across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The state government, along with the local municipal authorities, has intensified efforts to upgrade roads, public facilities, and essential services.
The Chief Minister has been regularly reviewing the progress of these projects to ensure timely completion ahead of the event.
Multilingual and User-Friendly Platform
One of the key highlights of the ‘Kumbhdoot’ app is its accessibility. It will be available in more than 20 Indian languages, making it easier for devotees from diverse regions to use the platform seamlessly.
Apart from providing real-time updates, the app will also assist authorities in planning security strategies more effectively.
Background
The last Kumbh Mela in Nashik was held in 2015, attracting millions of pilgrims. With the upcoming edition expected to be even larger in scale, the introduction of AI-driven solutions like ‘Kumbhdoot’ is seen as a significant move towards leveraging technology for public safety and efficient event management.
