Pune: Elevated Corridor From Dehu Road To Sutarwadi Gets Assembly Approval, Set To Ease Hinjawadi And West Pune TrafficÂ
Pimpri-Chinchwad, March 24, 2026: A major infrastructure project aimed at reducing traffic congestion on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway has received approval in the Maharashtra Assembly. The proposed elevated corridor from Dehu Road to Sutarwadi is expected to significantly improve connectivity across Pimpri-Chinchwad, Hinjawadi and western parts of Pune.
According to MLA Shankar Jagtap, the project will span approximately 15.87 kilometres and will be a six-lane elevated road connecting to the Navale Bridge. The initiative is being taken up jointly by the central and state governments to address growing traffic issues in the region.
The proposal was discussed during the state budget session, where a query regarding traffic conditions near Navale Bridge was raised. Responding to this, Minister of State Yogesh Kadam shared details of the planned corridor.
Officials said the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will prioritise land acquisition, as well as widening and strengthening of service roads along the route. The project is expected to be developed on the lines of other multi-lane elevated corridors in the state.
The corridor is likely to provide major relief to commuters travelling through key areas such as Hinjewadi IT Park, Wakad, Tathawade, Punawale and Ravet, as well as Baner, Balewadi, Sus and Bavdhan. It will also benefit residents of nearby localities including Maan, Marunji, Nere, Jambe, Kasarsai and Kiwale.
With traffic congestion in the Hinjewadi IT hub worsening over time, the project is expected to serve as a long-term solution by improving travel speed and easing bottlenecks.
Jagtap said the corridor would not only reduce travel time but also strengthen overall connectivity in the region. He urged authorities to expedite land acquisition and related works to ensure timely execution of the project.
Once completed, the elevated corridor is expected to play a key role in streamlining traffic movement and supporting future urban growth in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
