Pune, March 27, 2026: In the Royale Heritage Mall area on NIBM Road, Mahadevwadi-Undri, massive water tanks built by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) at a cost of several crores to address local water shortages are reportedly being misused. These tanks, intended to supply water to meet the basic needs of Mahadevwadi residents, have now become hotspots for inappropriate activities, with young people openly climbing the tanks during the day, filming videos, and engaging in other objectionable behavior.

Former corporator Pramod Nana Bhangire has raised the issue with Pune Municipal Corporation to activate the water tanks meant for public use. He also stated that if the authorities fail to implement their assurances, the party will hold a grand morcha against the PMC shortly.

Earlier this month, Shiv Sena organized the “Bharvya Handa Morcha” to demand that the PMC commence water supply from these tanks immediately. Despite the protest, there has been no visible improvement, even after assurances from PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram to personally oversee corrective measures.

The continued misuse of the tanks has raised serious law and order concerns, leaving the area highly unsafe. There is currently no security personnel, surveillance, or CCTV monitoring, making the space vulnerable, especially for women. Local residents and Shiv Sena leaders have repeatedly submitted complaints and staged demonstrations, but the PMC and police administration have largely ignored the issue.

With evidence of misuse mounting, civic activists are demanding the immediate deployment of permanent security, installation of CCTV cameras, and strict measures to prevent further exploitation of the public property. They warn that if no action is taken, Shiv Sena may launch another aggressive protest, highlighting the PMC’s negligence in managing taxpayer-funded projects and ensuring public safety.
