Vasai Horror: 4-Year-Old Brutally Assaulted like a Rag Doll, Over Father’s Dispute, Accused Arrested

Child critical after being dragged and beaten; chilling CCTV footage sparks outrage

A shocking incident has emerged from Vasai in Maharashtra’s Palghar district, where a four-year-old boy was brutally assaulted by an autorickshaw driver, allegedly over a prior dispute with the child’s father.

The incident, captured on CCTV, has triggered widespread outrage due to its disturbing nature.

What Happened

According to police, the incident took place on Monday evening around 7:30 pm inside a residential society in Vasai West. The child was playing in the compound when he sat inside a parked autorickshaw belonging to the accused, identified as Sandeep Pawar.

Shortly after, Pawar arrived at the spot, chased away other children, and allegedly attacked the boy.

A fight over a minor issue turned revengeful and gruesome when a man tossed a four-year-old boy to the ground and smashed his head on an iron rod after arguing with his father in Maharashtra's Vasai – an area adjacent to Mumbai.

Brutal Assault Caught On Camera

CCTV footage shows the accused pulling the child out of the rickshaw and violently assaulting him. 

The video shows the boy, identified as Vignesh – wearing a yellow t-shirt – sitting in a parked auto-rickshaw and playing with other children. The accused man, Sandeep Pawar – who had a fight with the child’s father over a minor issue – walked up to Vignesh and pulled him out of the vehicle by holding his legs.

Pawar, who can be seen wearing a blue shirt and black pants, then tossed him on the ground once, ran inside the building to smash his head on an iron rod, and threw him on the ground again to avenge the fight with the boy’s father.

The assault continued near a staircase inside the society premises, with the child being repeatedly slammed and beaten.

Family’s Intervention

The child’s grandmother attempted to intervene during the attack but was also reportedly assaulted by the accused. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety within residential complexes.

Child Critical, Under Treatment

The injured child was immediately rushed to hospital and is currently undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. Doctors have described his condition as critical.

Dispute Behind The Attack

Police said the assault was linked to a dispute that had taken place a few days earlier between the accused and the child’s father, who are residents of the same society. The attack is suspected to be an act of revenge.

A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law, including provisions related to assault and child protection. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
