Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 6, 2026: In a bid to tackle rising crime and improve public safety, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has proposed the establishment of five new police stations within its jurisdiction.

The decision comes amid rapid urban growth in the twin city and increasing pressure on existing law enforcement infrastructure. Police officials aim to enhance surveillance, reduce response time, and create a safer environment for residents.

According to officials, a proposal has been submitted by Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey to the state’s Director General of Police seeking approval for new stations in Pirangut, Jambe, Pimple Saudagar, Moshi, and Dehu Road. Once approved, the total number of police stations in the commissionerate will increase from 23 to 28.

The expansion is also expected to generate significant employment within the police force. A total of 961 new positions are proposed, including personnel for each of the new stations as well as additional posts under a new police division.

Authorities believe that the move will help curb criminal activities more effectively and improve law enforcement coverage in rapidly developing areas of Pimpri-Chinchwad.
