Railways Unveil Next-Generation Amrit Bharat Coaches with Modern Interiors and Enhanced Safety Features
New Delhi, April 6, 2026: The Indian Railways has taken a step forward in upgrading passenger experience with the rollout of a prototype coach for its next-generation Amrit Bharat Express.
The sample coach, showcasing new interior designs and colour schemes, was inspected by the Union Railway Minister at New Delhi railway station. The upgraded design focuses on improving passenger comfort, visual appeal, and overall travel quality.
The coaches feature coordinated interior themes, with carefully selected colours applied across flooring, seats, berths, snack tables, curtains, and washroom spaces. Materials used in the design comply with HL3 fire safety standards, ensuring enhanced safety alongside improved aesthetics.
Officials stated that the new design combines durability with ease of maintenance, while presenting a modern and uniform look across compartments.
The initiative is part of Indian Railways’ broader strategy to modernise its rolling stock, enhance onboard facilities, and deliver a safer and more comfortable travel experience for passengers across the country.
