Next 4 Weeks to Turn Hotter Across Maharashtra; Mercury Set to Cross 40°C
Maharashtra Weather Alert For May 13: IMD Issues Yellow Alert for 12 Districts as Heatwave Intensifies
Summer is beginning to tighten its grip across Maharashtra, with weather patterns now shifting toward a more intense and prolonged heat phase. The brief comfort felt earlier this month is fading, and a steady rise in daytime temperatures is expected across the state.
Forecasts for the coming month indicate that regions like Vidarbha and Marathwada will see persistently high temperatures stretching into early May. Several districts are likely to record temperatures above 40°C, pointing to a widespread escalation in heat levels.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region is also expected to feel the impact. Temperatures in and around Mumbai could climb to 40–42°C, with humidity adding to the overall discomfort.
Easterly Winds Adding to the Heat
The rise in temperatures is being linked to easterly winds that have started influencing the region. From Friday, these winds are expected to push heat levels upward across Maharashtra. Coastal districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad may experience hot and humid conditions around April 10–11.
In addition, changing western weather systems over the next week to ten days could further accelerate the warming trend across different parts of the state.
Different Regions, Similar Heat Surge
Interior regions such as Khandesh, Solapur, Vidarbha, and Marathwada are likely to see temperatures nearing or crossing the 40–42°C mark by the weekend. Hilly and ghat areas like Murbad and Mahad are also expected to witness similar spikes.
Central Maharashtra and the Konkan belt won’t be spared either, with temperatures rising steadily. Pune and nearby areas may see slightly lower readings compared to other regions, but still high enough—hovering between 37°C and 39°C—to signal a strong summer presence.
Temporary Changes, But No Real Relief
A shift in wind direction is expected around Monday, which could bring minor fluctuations, especially along coastal areas. However, this change is unlikely to offer lasting relief, as temperatures are expected to climb again soon after, returning to earlier highs by Tuesday.
With heat building across regions and only brief interruptions in the trend, the weeks ahead are set to be marked by sustained high temperatures, making it clear that peak summer conditions are arriving earlier and with greater intensity.
