Pune, April 11, 2026: A road accident near Bliss Café on Salunke Vihar Road has raised concerns over vehicular safety after a bus allegedly collided with a car belonging to Gemini Society resident Atik Pathan. The incident, which took place during regular traffic hours, is suspected to have been caused by brake failure, though the complainant has questioned the driver’s explanation.
According to Pathan, the bus struck his vehicle with considerable force, leaving his wife deeply traumatised. He said the sudden impact created a frightening situation for the entire family, who narrowly escaped what could have been a major accident. “My wife is still in deep shock after the incident. We were extremely lucky that no serious injuries occurred,” Pathan stated.
The complainant has also raised doubts over the driver’s claim that the vehicle suffered brake failure. He pointed out inconsistencies in the explanation, alleging that if the brakes had truly failed, it was unclear how the bus ended up hitting their car twice. This discrepancy, he said, needs a thorough investigation.
Following the incident, Pathan has urged authorities to take immediate cognisance of the matter. He has demanded that CCTV footage from the surrounding area be reviewed to identify the bus involved and establish the exact sequence of events. He has also called for strict action against the driver if negligence or wrongdoing is confirmed.
Police are expected to examine CCTV recordings and conduct a detailed inquiry into the circumstances of the collision to determine whether it was a mechanical failure or driver negligence.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and vehicle maintenance on Pune’s busy roads, with residents urging authorities to ensure stricter checks on public transport vehicles and faster response mechanisms in case of accidents.
