Pune, April 15, 2026: A group of parents from the Lower Kindergarten (LKG) section of a Bishop’s School in Undri has formally objected to a recent fee hike, alleging serious irregularities in its implementation and lack of transparency by the school administration.

In a written representation submitted on April 15, 2026, the aggrieved parents stated that they collectively represent more than 25% of the LKG parent body, thereby meeting the legal threshold required to file an appeal under the Maharashtra Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fee) Act, 2011.

The parents have raised concerns over what they describe as an unjustified and incorrectly calculated fee increase. According to the group, the school has imposed a 15% hike based on the Nursery fee structure instead of the LKG base, effectively resulting in an approximate 47% increase for LKG students.

Calling the hike “unauthorized,” the parents have demanded an immediate rollback of the revised fee structure and have sought an urgent meeting with the school management. They have also warned of further escalation if corrective action is not taken.

Apart from the fee issue, parents have highlighted multiple concerns regarding school operations. These include lack of clarity on the rationale behind the fee hike, absence of timely communication, and failure to follow due procedures, including the expected gap between fee revisions.

Parents also alleged that the fee increase was not discussed with Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members before implementation.

Concerns have also been raised about overcrowded classrooms, with some parents claiming that class strength exceeds 45 students, significantly higher than recommended norms for early education levels. They say this has impacted teaching quality, with teachers reportedly struggling to manage large groups and complete the syllabus effectively.

Additionally, parents claimed that repeated attempts to engage with the school administration have gone unanswered, further aggravating tensions.

With mounting frustration, parents have begun voicing their concerns collectively and are considering further action if their demands are not addressed.

The school administration has not yet issued an official response to the allegations.
