Pune, April 17, 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority has intensified its crackdown on illegal hoardings, demolishing a massive unauthorized structure in Lonikand on Friday.

The action was carried out by the encroachment removal department after it was found that the hoarding, erected on land in Haveli taluka, had no legal permissions. Officials moved in with a team and dismantled the structure on-site as part of an ongoing enforcement drive.

The operation was conducted under the orders of Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari and guided by Additional Commissioner K. Manjulakshmi. The team, led by Deputy Commissioner Himmat Kharade along with local revenue officials, executed the demolition.

Authorities stressed that with rapid urbanisation in the Pune metropolitan region, obtaining legal approvals for hoardings is mandatory to ensure public safety. Officials have warned that failure to comply with regulations will invite strict and intensified action in the coming days.

The issue of illegal hoardings has become a growing concern across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, prompting authorities to adopt a more aggressive enforcement approach.

PMRDA officials have made it clear that the drive against unauthorized hoardings will continue, and violators will face stringent penalties if they fail to regularise their structures.
