Pune: Tanker Hits Biker, Car At Undri’s Kad Nagar Chowk; Quick Medical Aid Saves Life
Pune, April 19, 2026: A serious road accident involving a water tanker, a two-wheeler, and a car was reported late Sunday evening at Kad Nagar Chowk in Undri, raising fresh concerns over road safety and heavy vehicle movement in the area.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:14 pm when a speeding tanker reportedly took a sharp turn towards the NIBM Road side and collided with an Ertiga car before running over a two-wheeler. The biker, identified as 23-year-old Shahbaj Mujawar, a resident of Tarawade Wasti in Pune, sustained injuries and was found trapped under the front portion of the tanker.
Eyewitness and first responder Dr Gaurav Pawale, a gynaecologist who was passing through the area at the time, immediately rushed to the scene and provided critical medical assistance. Speaking about the incident, Dr Pawale said that he had just crossed the chowk when he noticed the tanker taking a turn at a relatively high speed, followed by a loud impact moments later.

“I reached the spot within minutes. The two-wheeler was stuck under the tanker, and the injured man had already been pulled out by bystanders. He had a significant injury below the knee with active bleeding,” Dr Pawale said.
He conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the victim, checking vital parameters including pulse, consciousness, and pupil response. While no immediate life-threatening injuries were detected apart from the leg trauma, quick action was taken to prevent further complications.
Using makeshift materials, Dr Pawale and local residents immobilized the injured limb by creating a temporary splint with sticks and cloth. Women present at the scene assisted by providing dupattas to secure the leg and minimize movement.
With the help of a bystander, identified as Mr Shelke, the injured man was transported in a private vehicle to Precision Plus Hospital. The hospital team, including Dr Narendra Chopade and Dr Vinu Chopade, had been alerted in advance and were prepared for emergency treatment. The patient is currently undergoing further evaluation and treatment.
Senior Inspector Mansing Patil of Kalepadal Police Station confirmed that appropriate action will be taken in the matter.
The incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter regulation of heavy vehicle movement and improved traffic management at key junctions in Undri.
