Maharashtra faces dual weather conditions with heatwave and unseasonal rain. IMD issues yellow alerts for 13 districts including Mumbai, Pune, and Marathwada regions.

Maharashtra, April 25, 2026:

Maharashtra is witnessing unusual and rapidly changing weather patterns, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for 13 districts across the state. In a rare situation, both heatwave conditions and unseasonal rainfall are expected to occur simultaneously in different regions, posing a dual challenge for residents.

According to the forecast, eight districts are likely to experience intense heat, while five districts may receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

In the Konkan region, including Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, and Ratnagiri, a heatwave warning has been issued. High humidity and rising temperatures are expected to cause discomfort, with authorities advising residents to avoid stepping out during peak afternoon hours and to stay well hydrated.

Parts of Western Maharashtra, including Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara, are expected to witness cloudy skies with chances of light rainfall in isolated areas. While this may bring slight relief from the heat, humidity levels are likely to remain high. Meanwhile, Sangli and Solapur are under a yellow alert for rainfall.

In North Maharashtra, no specific alert has been issued, but temperatures are expected to remain high, and citizens have been urged to take precautions against heat exposure.

In the Marathwada region, districts such as Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv are under a yellow alert for rain. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely, raising concerns about potential damage to crops. Farmers have been advised to remain cautious.

Vidarbha districts, including Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur, and Wardha, are also on heat alert, with temperatures expected to rise significantly, increasing the risk of heatstroke.

The IMD has indicated that these fluctuating weather conditions are likely to persist over the next two days. Citizens are advised to follow official guidelines, avoid unnecessary travel, and take appropriate safety measures to cope with both heat and sudden rainfall.
