Ate Watermelon After Biryani: Four Family Members Die in Mumbai, Police Probe Suspected Food Poisoning Angle
Four members of a South Mumbai family were found dead hours after hosting relatives for dinner. Police are probing multiple angles, including possible food poisoning.
A shocking incident from Mumbai’s Pydhonie area has triggered concern after four members of the same family died under mysterious circumstances shortly after a family gathering at their home.
The deceased have been identified as Abdullah Dokadia (40), his wife Naseem (35), and their daughters Ayesha (16) and Zainab (13). The family lived in Moghul Building in South Mumbai.
According to police, the family had invited five relatives to their home on Saturday night. Around nine people reportedly had dinner together at approximately 10.30 pm. After the meal, the visiting relatives returned to their homes.
Hours later, tragedy struck inside the house.
Watermelon Under Scanner
Investigators suspect food poisoning as one possible angle. Reports indicate the family had consumed watermelon, and samples have been sent for forensic testing to determine whether any toxic substance was present.
Police are examining all food items served during the gathering, while awaiting laboratory results.
Case Registered, Probe On
The J J Marg Police have registered an accidental death report and launched an investigation. Officials said all possible causes are being examined and no final conclusion has been reached yet.
Police said the matter is under active investigation.
