Pune, April 29, 2026: A fresh controversy has emerged after Parth Pawar, Rajya Sabha MP and son of the late Ajit Pawar, travelled from Mumbai to Pune in an aircraft operated by VSR Aviation the same firm linked to the plane crash that claimed his father’s life earlier this year.

The January 28 crash near Baramati involved a Learjet 45 operated by VSR Ventures and resulted in the deaths of Ajit Pawar and four others. The incident has since been under scrutiny, with political leaders and family members raising serious concerns.

Parth Pawar, however, clarified that the booking of the aircraft was unintentional. He stated that his office had arranged a flight urgently for travel to Pune, where he was scheduled to attend a family gathering at the residence of his granduncle, Sharad Pawar.

According to Pawar, the aircraft was booked at the last minute by an external agent, and he was unaware of its association with VSR Aviation until he had already boarded the flight. He described the incident as an “administrative lapse” and said immediate action has been taken to terminate the contract with the booking agent.

He further stated that clear instructions have been issued to his team to exercise greater caution in future arrangements. Reiterating his stance, Pawar said his position regarding VSR Aviation remains unchanged and that he continues to oppose the company.

Meanwhile, Rohit Pawar, MLA and nephew of Ajit Pawar, has been vocal in raising questions about the Baramati crash. He has alleged a possible larger conspiracy and filed a Zero FIR in connection with the case.

Sources close to the Pawar family indicated that the visit to Pune was part of a private family gathering hosted at Modi Baug.
