Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 30: A government hospital in Pimpri-Chinchwad has come under scrutiny after a private pre-wedding feast, known as ‘Kelvan’, was reportedly held inside the premises of Jijamata Hospital, raising serious concerns over administrative discipline and patient care.

The hospital, operated by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, is considered a key healthcare facility for the public. However, instead of routine medical services, a social gathering was allegedly held within the hospital premises.

What Happened?

According to reports, the event was organised by colleagues of a female hospital employee whose wedding has been fixed. The ‘Kelvan’ ceremony, a traditional pre-wedding meal, was conducted at the hospital, where doctors, nurses, and staff were seen participating.

The incident has raised questions about whether adequate staff were available for patient care during the event, especially as the hospital caters to hundreds of patients daily.

Questions Over Administrative Discipline

The development has triggered criticism from citizens, who are questioning whether prior permission was taken from senior authorities to host a private event in a government hospital.

As a 24/7 essential service institution, concerns are being raised about whether such activities are permissible within hospital premises. The incident has also put the functioning and discipline of the civic health department under the scanner.

Call for Inquiry

Photos and details of the event have gone viral on social media, leading to widespread public outrage. Citizens have demanded a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible.

Authorities are yet to issue an official response on the matter.
