Pune: Wanawadi Mohalla Committee Meeting Highlights Civic Issues; Residents Raise Multiple Complaints
Pune, May 1,2026: A Mohalla Committee meeting was held at the Wanawadi Ward Office on Thursday, where residents voiced a wide range of civic concerns affecting their daily lives. The meeting was held for issues pertaining to Ward 18 Wanawadi Salunke Vihar road and Ward 19 NIBM Kausarbaug.
Key issues raised included poor sanitation in the Sopan Baug area, encroachment of footpaths on NIBM Road by shops, hotels, and roadside stalls, and the deteriorating condition of roads and drainage covers. Residents also complained about the burning of garbage and plastic in open spaces, and alleged inaction despite repeated complaints against unauthorized constructions in areas such as Sarvodaya Society, Kubera Park, and Kauserbagh Road.

Traffic congestion caused by vehicles parked in no-parking zones, the need for proper footpaths at Raheja Vista, and foul smell from a drain near Ganga Satellite were also highlighted. Citizens questioned the lack of transparency in expenses related to drain cleaning.
Water supply issues were another major concern, with residents stating that supply is disrupted once a month, forcing societies to spend large sums annually on water tankers, while no free tankers are provided by the civic body. Complaints were also raised about loud noise from processions and DJs, selective action against authorized vendors while ignoring unauthorized ones, and the need for dividers and speed breakers on internal roads.

Additional concerns included the condition of the health post in Shivneri Nagar, conversion of a reserved playground near Kondhwa Police Station into a dumping ground, and traffic problems caused by “No Visitor Parking” boards in housing societies leading to roadside parking. Residents also expressed safety concerns due to narrow roads and heavy vehicle movement near CRUT and Sungrace schools, and the neglected condition of the Constitution Chowk area.
Assistant Municipal Commissioner Amol Pawar assured residents that local issues would be addressed. He stated that matters related to building permissions fall under the Pune Municipal Corporation and would be formally communicated. He also provided information about the upcoming census and voter registration SIR process starting from Friday.
