Pune – Strengthening Maharashtra’s expanding infrastructure network, Welspun Enterprises has secured a major contract worth approximately ₹7,300 crore for the development of a key highway corridor in the state. The project has been awarded by Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC), highlighting continued investment in improving regional connectivity.

The scope of work includes the construction of a six-lane, partially elevated highway along the Pune–Shirur stretch of NH-753F. This corridor will cover a minimum design length of 53.4 kilometres, specifically from Km 10+600 to Km 64+000, and is expected to play a crucial role in easing traffic pressure on this busy route.

Executed under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer) model, the project comes with a concession period of 29 years. This timeline includes a four-year construction phase from the appointed date, followed by operation on a toll basis.

The Letter of Award was officially issued on April 29, 2026. MSIDC is acting as the implementing agency for this development under a government-to-government arrangement involving the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the state Public Works Department.

Following this win, Welspun Enterprises has significantly expanded its order book to around ₹18,755 crore, compared to ₹13,341 crore as of December 31, 2025, after adjusting for project execution. The company’s portfolio is diversified across water, tunnelling, and transportation sectors, with this latest addition further strengthening its roads segment.

Managing Director Sandeep Garg stated that the new contract is expected to enhance revenue visibility over the long term while also helping maintain a balanced mix of projects across different business verticals.

The upcoming corridor is anticipated to reduce congestion and improve the speed of both passenger and freight movement across major industrial and residential areas, including Wagholi, Kharadi, Lonikand, Ranjangaon, and Shikrapur.

Despite the scale of the announcement, shares of Welspun Enterprises were trading at ₹530.50 on the NSE at 11:52 am, down ₹9.60 or 1.78 percent.

Completion of this project is expected to deliver long-term benefits to the Pune region by improving connectivity, supporting economic activity, and addressing growing traffic demands along the Pune–Shirur route.
