Heatwave Alert in Maharashtra For May 2: Temperatures Set to Rise, IMD Issues Warning for Several Districts
Maharashtra, May 1, 2026:
A fresh spell of intense heat is expected across Maharashtra on Saturday, with temperatures likely to rise further in multiple regions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Nagpur district on May 2, warning of a possible heatwave in parts of Vidarbha.
Officials have advised citizens to take precautions, especially during afternoon hours, as temperatures are expected to soar significantly.

In the Konkan region, maximum temperatures are likely to range between 34°C and 36°C, while minimum temperatures may stay between 24°C and 26°C. Areas such as Mumbai, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are expected to experience humid and uncomfortable weather conditions.
In western Maharashtra, including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur, temperatures could reach between 38°C and 41°C, with hot conditions persisting throughout the day.
The Marathwada region is also expected to remain under severe heat, with districts such as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, and Parbhani likely to record maximum temperatures between 39°C and 42°C.
In Vidarbha, apart from Nagpur, regions like Akola, Amravati, Wardha, Chandrapur, and Yavatmal are also expected to face intense heatwave conditions, with temperatures touching around 43°C in some areas.
North Maharashtra is likely to see temperatures between 38°C and 41°C, with dry weather conditions continuing and no immediate rainfall expected.
The IMD has indicated that dry weather will persist across the state over the next few days, and residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary health precautions amid rising temperatures.
