Pune, May 5, 2026: A case has been registered against Vijay Dhulchand Karande, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Maharashtra minister Atul Save, for allegedly attempting to murder his wife and assaulting his minor child in Pune.

The incident reportedly took place on April 30 at the family’s residence in the Koregaon Park area. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, the Koregaon Park Police Station has registered an FIR under charges including attempt to murder, causing grievous hurt, and criminal intimidation.

According to the complaint, the altercation began when Karande’s wife questioned him about certain chats on his mobile phone and asked for the password. This reportedly triggered an angry reaction, leading to a violent confrontation.

Police said the accused allegedly assaulted his wife with a cricket bat and also attempted to strangle her. When their young son intervened to protect his mother, he too was allegedly attacked with the bat.

Following the incident, both the woman and her child managed to escape from the house and approached the police to lodge a complaint. Authorities have initiated further investigation into the matter.

Karande, who is currently on deputation in Mumbai as an OSD in the ministry handling OBC welfare and energy, is also associated with the social welfare department in Nanded. The case has once again highlighted concerns around domestic violence and abuse within households.
