Pune: 19-Year-Old Stabbed To Death In Thergaon Over Love Affair Dispute; Two Arrested Within Hours
Pune, May 9: A 19-year-old youth was brutally murdered in Pune’s Thergaon area following a dispute related to a love affair. The Kalewadi Police arrested both accused within hours of the incident.
The deceased has been identified as Subhan Hamid Sheikh. His brother, Arshad Ramzan Sheikh, was also seriously injured in the attack.
According to police, the incident took place around 11 pm on May 7 in Shivshankar Colony, Thergaon. Subhan and his brother Arshad were passing through the area when the accused, identified as Vishal Suryavanshi and Aniket Suryavanshi, allegedly intercepted them.
Police said a heated argument broke out over Subhan’s relationship with a girl named Sapna. The accused were reportedly opposing the relationship and had warned him to end it. When Subhan resisted, the argument escalated into violence.
The accused allegedly attacked Subhan with a knife, chopper and wooden sticks. Subhan suffered severe injuries and died on the spot, while his brother Arshad was critically injured in the assault.
During the investigation, police discovered another angle linked to the case. Officials said the main accused, Vishal Suryavanshi, was reportedly in a relationship with a woman named Jayashree. Police suspect tensions escalated after Subhan’s relationship with Jayashree’s daughter Sapna became a source of conflict between the families.
Investigators said attempts had earlier been made to convince Subhan to end the relationship, but the dispute intensified and ultimately led to the murder.
Kalewadi Police launched an immediate investigation after the incident and arrested both accused within nearly eight hours. Further investigation is underway.
