Pune, May 13, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation (PCCHSF) has demanded strict rules and regulations for Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants operating in Pimpri-Chinchwad and nearby areas. People are raising concerns over increasing air pollution and health issues caused by dust.

A letter on May 12 was addressed, seeking immediate action and a public hearing on this issue. The federation appeals to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and other senior officials, including PCMC Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi and PMRDA Commissioner Abhijit Chaudhari.

The federation stated that the growing number of RMC plants in residential areas such as Wakad, Punawale, Tathwade, Kiwale, and Ravet is causing serious health and environmental problems. According to the letter, senior citizens and children are facing respiratory issues due to dust pollution.

The federation also claims the lack of strict rules has allowed some RMC plants to operate carelessly. They have further demanded a “zero dust” policy and asked authorities to make it compulsory for plants to install dust-control systems, filtration units, and protective equipment. Additionally, they want strict compliance with Maharashtra Pollution Control Board norms, proper distance between RMC plants and housing societies, fixed timings for RMC tanker movement, and penalties for cement spillages on the road. Water recycling systems, eco-friendly waste disposal, cancellation rules, and a dedicated helpline for citizens to report pollution complaints are other demands.

The letter was written by Sachin Londhe on behalf of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Cooperative Housing Societies Federation. The federation wants PCMC to organise a public hearing involving residents and environmental experts before finalising any SOPs or regulations for RMC plants.
