Mumbai-Bengaluru Express Launched: Faster Rail Connectivity for Pune, Satara and Karad; Check Stops, Timings and Ticket Prices
Mumbai-Bengaluru Express Train: Rail connectivity between Maharashtra and Karnataka has received a major boost with the launch of the new Mumbai-Bengaluru Express service. The inaugural run of the train began on Sunday, promising faster and more convenient travel for passengers travelling for business, education, tourism and employment.
The new express service will strengthen connectivity between Bengaluru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi, Pune and Mumbai. The train will be operated and maintained by the South Western Railway (SWR).

Bengaluru to Mumbai Journey in Around 24 Hours
According to South Western Railway officials, the new train will cover a distance of nearly 1,210 kilometres in approximately 24 hours and 5 minutes.
The service will operate under train numbers 16553/16554 between Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) Bengaluru and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT), Mumbai.
Regular services from Bengaluru will begin from May 23, 2026, while departures from Mumbai will start from May 24, 2026.
Mumbai-Bengaluru Express Stops
The train will halt at 15 important stations, improving rail access for passengers from western Maharashtra and north Karnataka. Key stoppages include:
- Tumakuru
- Davanagere
- SSS Hubballi
- Dharwad
- Belagavi
- Miraj
- Sangli
- Karad
- Satara
- Lonavala
- Pune
- Karjat
- Kalyan
- Thane
The train will operate twice a week.
Coach Composition
The Mumbai-Bengaluru Express will have a total of 17 LHB coaches, including:
- 1 AC 2-Tier coach
- 4 AC 3-Tier coaches
- 6 Sleeper coaches
- 4 General Second Class coaches
- 1 Divyang-friendly coach with luggage and brake van
- 1 generator-cum-brake van
Ticket Prices
Railway authorities have announced the following fares for the Mumbai-Bengaluru Express:
- Sleeper Class: ₹750
- AC 3-Tier: ₹1,880
- AC 2-Tier: ₹2,575
Departure Timings
Train number 16553 will depart from SMVT Bengaluru every Tuesday and Saturday at 8:35 pm and reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, Mumbai, at 8:40 pm the following day.
Railway officials said the new service is expected to benefit students, working professionals, tourists and business travellers while improving connectivity between major commercial and cultural centres across Maharashtra and Karnataka.
