Pune, May 19, 2026: In Pune, the ringing of bicycle bells at sunrise has become more than just a fitness trend, it is the sound of a growing community. Across the city’s leafy cantonment roads, riverside stretches and misty hill routes, cycling groups are bringing together students, professionals, retirees and adventure seekers through a shared love for two wheels.

From leisurely breakfast rides to endurance challenges through the Sahyadris, Pune’s cycling culture has transformed into a vibrant social movement that promotes fitness, sustainability and friendship.

Among the city’s most popular groups is Speaking Wheels, a leisure focused cycling club known for its relaxed and community driven rides. Founded in 2019, the club emphasizes experiences over speed, encouraging riders to “forget the miles and cherish the smiles.”

Their carefully curated rides combine scenic routes, local food stops and cultural exploration, making cycling accessible even for beginners. Women only rides, workshops on bike maintenance and weekend cycling tours have helped the club build a welcoming environment for cyclists of all ages.

Another influential force in Pune’s cycling ecosystem is Noworries Cycling Club, founded by Anand Vanjape with the vision of making cycling approachable, disciplined and community driven. The organization focuses on endurance cycling, structured training, cycling education, nutrition awareness and road safety while promoting a culture of continuous learning and personal transformation.

One of its defining achievements has been the annual Pune to Mumbai Independence Day ride conducted every 15 August for the past seven years, an endurance challenge that has become symbolic of discipline, perseverance and camaraderie within Pune’s cycling community. The club has also undertaken ambitious long distance expeditions such as the Pune to Kanyakumari coastal ride, encouraging cyclists to embrace endurance, resilience and sustainable travel. Through workshops, regional language outreach and beginner friendly mentorship, Noworries Cycling Club has helped nurture a strong grassroots cycling culture in the city.

Extending this philosophy beyond fitness is Pedal Mission, a social initiative operating under the umbrella of Noworries Cycling Club. The initiative focuses on providing bicycles to underprivileged individuals for whom mobility can directly improve access to education, employment and daily opportunities. Rather than functioning as a separate entity, Pedal Mission acts as the social outreach arm of the cycling club, channeling the enthusiasm of riders into bicycle donation drives, awareness campaigns and community outreach programs.

Under Anand Vanjape’s leadership, cycling becomes more than recreation, it transforms into a tool for empowerment and positive social change.

For cyclists seeking structured training and fitness oriented routines, NCRunners has emerged as another dynamic multi-sport community in Pune. Although primarily known for running, the group regularly organizes cycling sessions, endurance training and outdoor fitness activities around Nanded City and nearby areas. Since its founding in 2016, NCRunners has attracted hundreds of fitness enthusiasts through free weekly sessions and preparation programs for marathons and triathlons. Meanwhile, groups such as Giant Starkenn Cycling World and smaller community led clubs continue to organize road rides, monsoon cycling expeditions and skill building sessions, making Pune one of India’s most active urban cycling hubs.

As Pune continues to reclaim its identity as the “city of cycles,” these community groups are shaping a healthier and more connected urban culture. Cycling is no longer viewed only as exercise or transportation; it has become a way for people to rediscover the city, reduce stress and form meaningful friendships. Whether it is a sunrise ride to Khadakwasla, an endurance challenge to Mumbai or a bicycle donation drive through Pedal Mission, Pune’s cycling communities are proving that the spirit of cycling extends far beyond the road itself.
