Pune: Kondhwa Residents Demand Action Against Late-Night Disturbances And Illegal Activities
Pune, May 25, 2026: Residents of Pargenagar in Kondhwa have urged police authorities to take strict action against increasing late-night disturbances, illegal parking, reckless driving, and eateries allegedly operating beyond permitted hours in the area.
The meeting was attended by Kumar Ghadge, senior police inspector, Kondhwa Police Station and Maya Devre, senior police inspector, Kondhwa traffic division.
The concerns were raised during a meeting held on Saturday between local residents, police officials, and traffic department representatives. The discussion was organised by the Pargenagar Kondhwa Residents Association (PKRA) and attended by members of several housing societies.
Residents claimed that late-night activity in the locality has increased significantly over the past few years. Complaints included underage boys loitering near paan shops late at night, alleged sale of banned products, and traffic congestion caused by illegal parking and temporary roadside stalls.
Women residents highlighted growing safety concerns, stating that internal roads become unsafe after dark due to groups gathering near shops and careless vehicle parking. Some residents also pointed to frequent bike and car racing on isolated stretches, along with loud noise from modified silencers disturbing the peace at night.
Additional complaints included abandoned vehicles parked for long periods, unregulated loudspeaker usage by certain establishments and schools, and ongoing construction work continuing late into the night. Residents also objected to heavy vehicles transporting construction material through residential roads after midnight.
Citizens alleged that some temporary markets and roadside stalls worsen traffic conditions, while schools operating without proper permissions contribute to noise pollution in the area.
Police officials assured residents that stricter action is now being taken against establishments violating regulations. Authorities stated that instead of merely issuing warnings, legal action has been initiated against several café and eatery owners operating beyond permissible hours.
Officials, however, admitted that increasing night patrolling across the large jurisdiction remains difficult due to manpower shortages. Residents urged the administration to implement immediate corrective measures to prevent the situation from escalating further.
