Pune Airport Bomb Threat: Note Found in Guwahati-Bound Flight Toilet, Case Registered
Pune, May 30: A bomb threat note was discovered inside the lavatory of a Guwahati-bound flight at Pune International Airport, prompting an immediate security response. Following the incident, Airport Police registered a case against an unidentified person for issuing the threat.
The complaint was filed by airport official Vishalkumar Srivastava (30) at the Airport Police Station. According to police, the incident came to light during a routine inspection of the aircraft on Friday (May 29) at around 6:45 am before its departure to Guwahati.
During the inspection of the aircraft’s lavatory, security personnel found a handwritten note carrying the word “Bomb” in bold letters. Authorities immediately launched a thorough security check and informed the police about the threat.
A detailed search of the aircraft was conducted, but no suspicious or explosive object was found inside the lavatory or elsewhere on the plane. However, the security operation caused a temporary delay in the flight’s departure.
Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav visited the spot, while Police Sub-Inspector Gund is conducting further investigations.
Police officials said similar bomb threat messages had been received at Pune International Airport in the past through emails and phone calls to the police control room. Investigations into those incidents had revealed that the threats were hoaxes intended to create panic.
