The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan in Dehu has announced the official schedule for the 341st Ashadhi Wari Palkhi procession. The Palkhi will depart for Pandharpur on July 7 and reach Wakhari on July 24 ahead of Ashadhi Ekadashi celebrations.
Pune, June 3: The much-awaited schedule for the annual Ashadhi Wari Palkhi procession of Jagadguru Sant Tukaram Maharaj has been officially announced by the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Sansthan, Dehu. The 341st Ashadhi Palkhi procession will commence from the main temple complex in Dehu on July 7 and proceed towards Pandharpur, marking the beginning of one of Maharashtra’s most revered spiritual traditions.
Every year, lakhs of devotees join the Wari pilgrimage, chanting devotional hymns and walking hundreds of kilometres to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal in Pandharpur. The centuries-old tradition continues to unite people across social and economic backgrounds in a unique display of faith and devotion.
According to the schedule released by the Sansthan, the Palkhi will halt at Inamdar Wada on July 7 after the departure ceremony. On July 8, it will resume its journey, and the first ceremonial aarti will be performed at the dargah of Sufi saint Angadshah Baba before the procession moves further towards Pandharpur.
The Sansthan has appointed three chief trustees for this year’s Palkhi ceremony — H.B.P. Vikramsingh Umraj More, H.B.P. Umesh Suresh More and H.B.P. Laxman Dattatraya More. A new arrangement has also been made for the Palkhi chariot, with three pairs of bullocks being purchased to pull the ceremonial rath.

The Ashadhi Wari is one of Maharashtra’s most significant religious and cultural traditions, with a history spanning more than 800 years. Devotees from across the state participate in the pilgrimage, walking together in a spirit of equality, devotion and service.
As preparations gather pace in Dehu, thousands of Warkaris are eagerly awaiting the start of the sacred journey that culminates at the feet of Lord Vitthal in Pandharpur during Ashadhi Ekadashi.
