Pune: Missing 9-Year-Old Found Safe After Hour-Long Search By Wanowrie Police
Pune, June 12, 2026: Acting swiftly on a missing child complaint, the Wanowrie Police successfully traced a nine-year-old girl within an hour and safely reunited her with her parents.
According to police, the girl had left her residence in the Prathama Society area around 10:30 am to play but did not return home by evening. Concerned parents approached the Ramtekdi Police Chowki at around 7:30 pm and reported her missing.
Taking the matter seriously, senior officials initiated an immediate search operation under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) and the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wanowrie Division. Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad of Wanowrie Police Station directed the team to circulate the girl’s details through police broadcasts and various WhatsApp groups.
Three dedicated police teams from the Wanowrie Police Station Detection Branch were formed and deployed to search the area. The teams checked CCTV footage and conducted searches at temples, gardens, and food stalls in the vicinity.
At around 8:33 pm, the missing girl was located in the jurisdiction of Swargate Police Station. After verifying her identity and ensuring her safety, police handed her over to her parents.
The girl’s father, Jagat Kami, along with local residents, expressed gratitude to the Wanowrie Police for their prompt action and successful efforts in tracing the child within such a short period.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil, DCP Shivankar, ACP Namrata Desai, and Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad, along with a team of officers and personnel from Wanowrie Police Station.
