Pune, June 12, 2026: Pune residents continue to grapple with intense heat as the city’s maximum temperature has climbed to 37 degrees Celsius despite the arrival of the second week of June. The delayed onset of monsoon conditions and the absence of significant pre-monsoon rainfall have left citizens struggling with soaring temperatures and uncomfortable humidity.
According to the Pune Meteorological Observatory, the city and surrounding districts are likely to experience hot weather throughout the day over the next 24 hours. However, there is a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunder during the afternoon or evening, which may bring some respite from the prevailing heat.

Over the past two to three days, residents eagerly awaiting rainfall have been exposed to harsh sunshine and rising temperatures. Several parts of the city, including Pashan, Magarpatta, Koregaon Park, Dapodi, and Shivajinagar, have recorded temperatures exceeding 36 degrees Celsius.
The slowdown in monsoon progress and the lack of pre-monsoon showers have resulted in weather conditions more typical of May than June. The intense heat has been accompanied by increased humidity, making outdoor conditions particularly uncomfortable.
While some suburban areas have experienced cooler nighttime conditions, offering limited relief, weather officials expect largely clear skies over the city for the next two to three days. The intensity of the afternoon sun is likely to persist during this period.
The Pune Meteorological Observatory has forecast isolated light showers in parts of the city and district over the next 24 hours. These showers are expected to provide temporary relief to residents affected by the heat and help reduce atmospheric temperatures to some extent.
