Pune, June 15, 2026: In the wake of a bomb threat received by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the civic body has decided to introduce stricter security protocols and visitor regulations for those entering its premises.

The decision was taken following concerns over security arrangements at the municipal headquarters. Standing Committee Chairman Srinath Bhimale said a comprehensive set of visitor guidelines will be prepared and presented before the committee within the next ten days.

The bomb threat has brought PMC’s security measures under scrutiny. During a review of security arrangements, officials reportedly found irregularities involving security personnel, including concerns related to the misuse or improper display of identity cards by some guards. The issue has raised questions about the effectiveness of existing security checks and monitoring systems.

PMC currently has multiple entry and exit points where security guards are stationed to inspect visitors and their belongings. However, the civic administration now plans to strengthen these procedures further.

Under the proposed rules, visitors will be required to provide details regarding the purpose of their visit, the department they intend to visit, and the official they wish to meet. Based on this information, a visitor pass will be issued, and a specific meeting time may also be assigned.

The Standing Committee has directed the administration to prepare a comprehensive visitor management policy incorporating these measures to enhance security and ensure better monitoring of public access to municipal offices.

The move comes as PMC seeks to tighten security and prevent potential threats following the recent bomb scare, while maintaining orderly access for citizens visiting the civic headquarters.
