Pune, June 18, 2026: Members of the Naga community and students residing in Pune came together for a candlelight vigil in Mundhwa to mourn the loss of Naga lives in Manipur and express solidarity with the families affected by the recent violence.

The vigil, organised by the Naga Students’ Union Pune (NSUP) at Sportswing, Mundhwa, witnessed the participation of students, community members, elders, and supporters from different parts of the city. Attendees lit candles, offered prayers, and observed moments of silence in memory of those who lost their lives.

During the programme, a message from the NSUP leadership was read out, expressing deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. The organisation also appealed to the authorities to ensure a fair, impartial, and timely investigation into the incident.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Widiangliu Nkhamnamai, President-in-Charge of the Naga Students’ Union Pune, called for immediate intervention by the government and urged authorities to take unbiased action to secure justice for the victims and their families.

The prayer service was led by Pastor Meyikumzuk Ozukum of the Naga Christian Fellowship Pune, who prayed for peace, healing, reconciliation, and long-term stability in Manipur.

Organisers said the vigil was intended to stand in solidarity with the victims’ families and to convey the Naga community’s collective demand for justice, accountability, and lasting peace in the region.
