Badlapur, June 21: A horrific BMW car accident in Badlapur claimed the lives of two people and left one seriously injured in the early hours of Sunday, creating shock among local residents.

According to preliminary information, the accident took place around 2 a.m. on the Mumbai-Vadodara route near Eranjad. The BMW, which was travelling from Titwala towards Badlapur, reportedly lost control while moving at an extremely high speed.

A video that has since gone viral on social media allegedly shows the vehicle’s speedometer touching 251 kmph moments before the crash. Police are yet to officially verify the footage.

Authorities believe the driver may have lost control due to excessive speed and poor visibility during the night. The car rammed into the road divider and overturned, resulting in a devastating impact that completely wrecked the vehicle.

The force of the collision was so severe that the BMW’s engine broke apart and vehicle debris was scattered across the highway. Eyewitnesses claimed that body parts of the deceased were found scattered for nearly half a kilometre from the crash site.

Two occupants died on the spot, while another person sustained serious injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.

Following the incident, a large crowd gathered at the accident site. Police and forensic teams reached the spot immediately and began an investigation.

According to police, the deceased are believed to be residents of Badlapur. Efforts are currently underway to formally identify the victims and determine the exact circumstances that led to the fatal crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
