Pune, June 22, 2026: In a significant relief for residents facing water supply challenges, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the establishment of two new water tanker filling points in Undri and Bavdhan. The move comes amid a sharp rise in demand for tanker water, with the city witnessing an average increase of 200 tanker requests per day.
The new tanker filling facility for the Undri area will be developed near the water tank adjacent to Dorabjee Mall, while another dedicated tanker point will be set up in Bavdhan. The decision was taken following a review meeting chaired by Additional Municipal Commissioner Pavneet Kaur on Saturday to assess complaints received after the implementation of water cuts across the city.

During the meeting, officials from the Water Supply Department were instructed to operationalize the two new tanker points at the earliest and address citizens’ water-related grievances on priority.
When Pune Pulse spoke to Nandkishor Jagtap, superintending engineer, water supply department, PMC he said that the work will begin from today. Three tanker points in the city, Dhayari, Mohamadwadi and Bavdhan will be set up.
Existing Tanker Filling Points Under Pressure
Currently, PMC operates tanker filling points at:
- Parvati
- Padmavati
- Ramtekdi
- Erandwane
- Vadgaonsheri
- Pashan
- Yerawada
- Chatuhshrungi
Residents of Hadapsar and nearby areas are presently dependent on the Ramtekdi and Parvati tanker centres, forcing tankers to travel between 10 and 20 kilometres for each trip. Similarly, water supply for Bavdhan and Warje is being managed from the Pashan and Chatushrungi filling points.
Officials said the dedicated Bavdhan, Undri and Dhayari tanker point will significantly reduce travel time for water tankers, enabling faster and more efficient water delivery to residents.
Water Supply Issues In Tail-End Areas
PMC officials also reviewed complaints from tail-end areas of the city’s water distribution network, where alternate-day water supply has led to difficulties in ensuring adequate water reaches the farthest points of pipelines.
Residents in these localities have reported:
- Low water pressure
- Reduced water availability
- Water supply lasting only 10 to 15 minutes
Taking note of the growing complaints, Additional Municipal Commissioner Navneet Kaur directed the Water Supply Department to revise water distribution schedules and improve planning to ensure maximum possible water supply to affected areas.
The civic administration expects that the new tanker filling points, combined with revised supply planning, will help ease water shortages and improve service delivery across Pune.
