Ketan Agarwal Death Case Takes Dramatic Turn: Fiancée Among Eight Accused In Alleged Lohagad Fort Murder Plot
Pune, June 23, 2026: What was initially believed to be a tragic accidental fall at Lohagad Fort has now been revealed as an alleged murder, with Pune Rural Police arresting the fiancée of the deceased and her male friend in connection with the case.
The victim, 26-year-old Ketan Vishal Agarwal, a director in his family’s real estate business in Pune, was scheduled to marry later this year. His death on June 18 had initially been reported as an accident after he reportedly fell from a cliff while taking photographs at the historic Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka.
According to Pune Rural Police, Agarwal had visited the fort with his fiancée and a group of friends to celebrate her upcoming birthday. The incident occurred around 10:30 am when he allegedly slipped near a cliff edge and plunged nearly 350 feet into a valley.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation while search-and-rescue teams, assisted by local residents and trekking groups, recovered Agarwal’s body from the valley. He was later declared dead at a hospital.
However, during the course of the investigation, police uncovered evidence that contradicted the initial accident theory. A senior Pune Rural Police officer stated that fresh leads and detailed inquiries confirmed that Agarwal’s death was not accidental but a case of murder.
“Based on the evidence gathered during the investigation, we have arrested the victim’s fiancée and her male friend. Further investigation is underway, and additional details will be shared soon,” the officer said.
The arrests have sent shockwaves through Pune, as the case has transformed from what appeared to be a fatal trekking mishap into a high-profile murder investigation. Police are continuing to probe the motive and circumstances surrounding the alleged crime.
