Pune, June 24, 2026: Commuters travelling through Dive Ghat on the Pune-Saswad route are likely to face periodic traffic disruptions in the coming weeks as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) accelerates work on the road-widening project being undertaken as part of the Palkhi Marg development initiative.

To facilitate controlled blasting and rock-crushing operations along the project alignment, NHAI imposed a two-hour traffic block on June 22 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Vehicular movement from both sides of the ghat section was completely halted during the period to ensure the safety of motorists and workers involved in the blasting activities.

According to NHAI officials, similar traffic blocks are expected on weekdays as hill-cutting and rock-removal work intensifies. The project aims to widen the existing road, improve safety, reduce congestion, and shorten travel time on the heavily used Pune-Saswad corridor.

The temporary closure, however, caused significant inconvenience to commuters, with long queues forming on both sides of the ghat. Office-goers, transport operators and daily travellers reported delays and extended waiting periods during the traffic blockade.

NHAI has appealed to citizens to cooperate with the temporary restrictions and plan their travel schedules accordingly while the critical infrastructure project is underway.
