Pune, June 24, 2026: In a major boost to Pune’s public transportation infrastructure, a modern bus terminal is being developed on approximately 2.5 acres of land behind the Swargate Metro Station as part of the first phase of the city’s multi-modal transport hub project.
The upcoming facility aims to seamlessly integrate services of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), and Pune Metro, enabling commuters to switch between different modes of transport with greater ease and efficiency.

According to PMPML officials, the terminal will feature nine bus platforms capable of operating simultaneously and accommodating around 300 to 400 passengers at a time. The project has been designed to enhance last-mile connectivity by providing direct access to the adjacent metro station, allowing passengers to move conveniently between metro and bus services.
Authorities believe the integrated terminal will also help ease traffic congestion at the busy Swargate junction by streamlining bus operations and reducing roadside crowding.
The terminal is expected to cater to passengers travelling towards key areas such as Kothrud, Hadapsar, Sinhagad Road, and Shivajinagar. Passenger-friendly facilities including waiting halls, toilets, drinking water stations, a bus pass distribution centre, and dedicated rest rooms for drivers and conductors will be provided.
Regular commuters have welcomed the initiative, stating that the current transfer between bus and metro services at Swargate is often time-consuming due to congestion and the distance between facilities. They believe the integrated terminal will save travel time and encourage greater use of public transport across the city.
