Family Prestige Or Love? Probe Reveals Alleged Motive Behind Ketan Agarwal Death
Pune, June 25, 2026: The investigation into the alleged murder of 25-year-old Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort has uncovered a possible motive linked to family prestige, social pressure and personal relationships, according to information emerging from the ongoing police probe.
Ketan, son of Pune-based developer Vishal Agarwal of Shubh Developers, died after falling into a gorge during a trek at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The incident was initially believed to be a tragic accident. However, subsequent investigations led police to register a murder case and arrest two suspects.
According to sources, Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal (22), and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary (22) are currently being questioned by investigators. During interrogation, police reportedly gathered information suggesting that Siya was unwilling to proceed with the marriage despite the engagement having already been formalised between the two families.
Investigators are examining claims that concerns over family reputation and the fear of social embarrassment may have played a role in the alleged conspiracy. Sources indicated that the accused believed that calling off the engagement or taking any step that could attract public attention might have adversely affected the family’s standing in society.
Police are also probing the nature of the relationship between the two accused and whether personal factors contributed to the alleged planning of the crime. Officials have not ruled out any angle and are continuing to verify statements and evidence.
The case took a dramatic turn after Ketan’s funeral when family members reportedly began questioning the circumstances surrounding his death. According to sources, Siya later visited the Agarwal family to offer condolences, where relatives sought details about the trek and the events leading up to the fatal fall.
Family members allegedly noticed inconsistencies in her version of events, raising doubts about the accident theory. Concerned by the contradictions, they approached Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill and requested a detailed investigation.
Following further inquiry, investigators reportedly uncovered evidence that pointed towards possible foul play. Police are now examining the full extent of the alleged conspiracy and whether any additional individuals were involved in planning or facilitating the crime.
Both accused remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
