Pimpri Chinchwad To Hold National Pulse Polio Vaccination Drive On June 28; Parents Urged To Vaccinate Children Under Five
Pimpri Chinchwad, June 27, 2026: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will conduct the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Drive across the city on Sunday, June 28. The civic body’s medical department has appealed to parents to ensure that all children below the age of five receive two drops of the oral polio vaccine at the nearest vaccination centre.
The vaccination campaign will be held from 8 am to 5 pm at 1,123 polio vaccination centres across the city. Children who miss the vaccination on the designated day will be covered through a door-to-door campaign by health workers from June 29 to July 3.

To ensure the smooth implementation of the drive, PCMC has deployed eight divisional medical officers, 95 medical officers, 319 supervisors and 4,552 vaccination staff. The campaign will also be supported by Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs), Multi-Purpose Workers (MPWs), ASHA volunteers, Anganwadi workers and helpers, students from various colleges, members of women’s health committees, Rotary Club volunteers and representatives of other voluntary organisations.
Vaccination centres have been set up at all municipal dispensaries and hospitals, major private hospitals, Anganwadi centres, bus terminals, railway stations, Metro stations and settlements of migrant workers to ensure maximum coverage.
The civic body highlighted that administering two drops of the polio vaccine is essential for every child under five, regardless of whether they have already completed their routine immunisation schedule. The vaccine provides protection against polio, reduces the risk of paralysis, strengthens immunity and helps maintain India’s polio-free status. The vaccine is also safe for newborns and children with minor illnesses.
PCMC Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi urged parents to actively participate in the campaign.
“To preserve India’s polio-free status, every parent must consider participation in this campaign as a social responsibility. On Sunday, June 28, ensure that every child below five years of age receives two drops of the oral polio vaccine at the nearest vaccination centre,” he said.
Health Medical Officer Dr. Laxman Gofane appealed to citizens to ensure that no eligible child is left out.
“Every child below five years must receive the polio dose under the National Pulse Polio campaign. Citizens should ensure that no child in their family or neighbourhood misses the vaccination,” he said.
