Pune, June 30, 2026: The Bharati Vidyapeeth Police have arrested a habitual offender involved in a robbery case and recovered four stolen mobile phones collectively worth ₹1.30 lakh, in a significant breakthrough during an ongoing investigation.

The case dates back to the night of May 24, 2026, when complainant Mahanatesh Danappa Domanal was walking to buy milk near Maulinagar Bus Stop on the Katraj-Kondhwa Road. Three unidentified men allegedly stopped him, assaulted him with an iron rod, and forcibly robbed him of his mobile phone. Based on his complaint, Bharati Vidyapeeth Police registered Crime No. 317/2026 under Sections 309(6) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Considering the seriousness of the offence, a police team led by Police Sub-Inspector Nilesh Mokashi, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil, launched an investigation using technical analysis and intelligence gathered through informants. The probe revealed the involvement of history-sheeters Umar Sheikh, Sahil Sheikh and Rahul Nikam.

During the search operation, police received credible information that accused Rahul Sitaram Nikam (28), a resident of Laxmi Park, Tarawad Vasti, Mohammadwadi, Kondhwa, was present on Wonder City Road. He was apprehended and arrested in connection with the case. During the investigation, police recovered four stolen mobile phones from his possession, including a Samsung A33Samsung A17Vivo, and Oppo handset, with a total estimated value of ₹1,30,000.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Milind Mohite (Zone), Assistant Commissioner of Police Rahul Aware (Bharati Vidyapeeth Division), and Senior Police Inspector Mansing Patil. The investigation team included Police Inspector (Crime) Kailas Kodag, PSI Nilesh Mokashi, and police personnel Mitesh Chormale, Abhinay Chaudhary, Sagar Borge, Soham Shendkar, Sachin Sarpale, Avdhut Jamdade, Mahesh Baravkar, Mangesh Pawar, Nilesh Khairmode, Mangesh Gaikwad, Kiran Sable, Tukaram Sutar, and Sandeep Agale.
