Maharashtra FDA Suspends Licences of Six Mumbai Food Establishments Over Hygiene Violations
Mumbai, July 3, 2026: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has suspended the licences of six hotels, restaurants and bakeries across Mumbai for allegedly violating food safety and hygiene norms during surprise inspections.
The inspections were carried out under the direction of FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe as part of a statewide crackdown aimed at improving food safety standards.

Among the establishments, Flint and Waarsa at Nariman Point had its licence suspended after officials allegedly found instances of food misbranding during an inspection on June 27.
The other establishments facing action include Hotel Gopalkrishna in Santacruz East, where rats were reportedly found in the kitchen; Karak Enterprises in Andheri, where a cockroach infestation was allegedly detected; Madras Diaries in Bandra for hygiene-related lapses; M.K. Bakery in Borivali for allegedly preparing food during renovation work and selling improperly labelled products; and Hotel Shrikrishna in Bhandup for poor sanitation and inadequate refrigeration facilities.
According to the FDA, the violations posed potential risks to public health. The department said it will continue conducting inspections and take strict action against food businesses that fail to comply with food safety and hygiene regulations.
The FDA has also urged hotels, restaurants and bakeries across Maharashtra to maintain proper hygiene standards and adhere to food safety laws to ensure safe food for consumers.
