Pune: FDA Cracks Down On Pimple Gurav Milk Products Unit, Seizes 230 KG Adulterated Ghee
Pune, July 3: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized ghee and namkeen worth ₹1.22 lakh from two food establishments in Pune Division over labelling violations and suspected adulteration, while suspending the food licence of one establishment as part of its ongoing statewide enforcement drive.
The action was taken under the ‘Safe Food, Safe Drug, Safe Maharashtra’ campaign being implemented across Maharashtra under the guidance of Food Safety Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe.
During a special inspection, officials raided Devansh Milk and Milk Products at Bhalekar Nagar, Pimple Gurav, Pune. A stock of 230 kg of ghee valued at ₹90,500 was seized after it was found to be without proper labels and suspected to be adulterated. Considering the serious violations detected during the inspection and in the interest of protecting public health, the FDA immediately suspended the establishment’s food licence.
The inspection was carried out by Food Safety Officer Sh. G. Ghatol along with officers S. S. Patwardhan and Akshay Shelke under the guidance of Assistant Commissioner (Food) Vishwajeet Shinde.
In a separate operation, the FDA’s Solapur office inspected Sangeeta Food Products at Madde Wasti, Solapur. During the inspection, officials seized 160 kg of namkeen worth ₹32,000 due to labelling deficiencies and suspected adulteration. The action was conducted by Food Safety Officer K. G. Deshmukh under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Food) Sahebrao Desai.
Joint Commissioner (Food) D. V. Bhogawade stated that the Food and Drug Administration will continue taking strict action against businesses operating without valid licences or those involved in the production, processing, or sale of substandard, adulterated, or non-compliant food products in violation of food safety regulations.
