Pune, July 5, 2026: Ahead of the Alandi–Pandharpur Ashadhi Wari Palkhi Procession 2026, the Pune Traffic Police have launched an online volunteer registration drive to assist with traffic management and crowd control during the annual pilgrimage.

The Traffic Branch plans to deploy volunteers from July 9 to July 11 to support traffic regulation, guide citizens and devotees, and help ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the Palkhi procession. Interested citizens have been encouraged to register online through the official registration form released by the department.

To prepare volunteers for their responsibilities, the Pune Traffic Police have organised special training sessions on July 6 and July 7 at the Traffic Branch Headquarters in Yerawada. The training will be conducted in two sessions each day—from 11 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 5 pm. Volunteers may attend any one session on either day according to their convenience.

The sessions will cover key aspects of volunteer duties, including traffic management, public safety, crowd coordination and assisting commuters and pilgrims during the procession.

The Traffic Branch noted that the Ashadhi Wari Palkhi is an integral part of Maharashtra’s cultural and spiritual heritage, attracting lakhs of Warkaris and devotees through Pune every year. Public participation through volunteer support plays an important role in ensuring smooth traffic movement, effective crowd management and the safety of pilgrims and residents alike.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Dr. Sandeep Bhajibhakare has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the public service initiative and extend their support to the administration by volunteering during the Palkhi procession.

Citizens can register through the official online volunteer registration form:
