Pune: Parking Shed Crushed As Boundary Wall Collapses At Jambhulwadi Society; 14 Vehicles Trapped
Pune, July 5, 2026: Continuous heavy rainfall led to the collapse of a society boundary wall onto a parking shed at Samruddhi Lake Society on Jambhulwadi Road in the early hours of Sunday, prompting a swift rescue operation by the Pune Fire Brigade.
The incident occurred at around 3:24 am, when the boundary wall gave way due to persistent rain and fell onto the parking structure, trapping several vehicles underneath.
Firefighters from the Katraj Fire Station, assisted by personnel from the Sinhagad Fire Station, immediately rushed to the spot. With the help of a fabrication team, they used angle grinders to cut through the iron framework and remove the damaged metal sheets covering the parking shed.
The rescue operation enabled firefighters to safely retrieve seven four-wheelers and seven two-wheelers that had been trapped beneath the collapsed structure.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Fire Officer Santosh Bhilare. The rescue team included firemen Mayur Kate, Prashant Kumbhar, Akshay Devkar, driver Sheikh, and personnel from Sinhagad Fire Station, including Sunil Diwadkar, Rakesh Bare, Sambhaji Atole, and Adinath Pawar.
No injuries were reported in the incident. However, the collapse has once again highlighted the risks posed by continuous heavy rainfall and ageing infrastructure during the monsoon season.
