Pune: Lodha Belmondo Residents Clean Illegal Garbage Dump Despite Heavy Rain Â
Pune, July 5, 2026: Defying continuous rainfall, a group of resident volunteers from Lodha Belmondo organised a cleanliness drive outside the society premises on Sunday morning, highlighting the importance of community participation in maintaining public hygiene.
The initiative was launched in response to the growing problem of illegal garbage dumping outside the main entrance of the township. According to residents, the area has increasingly become a dumping spot where household waste, plastic, food leftovers and other litter are discarded indiscriminately, creating unhygienic conditions and affecting the area’s appearance.
Equipped with gloves, masks, garbage bags and cleaning tools, volunteers collected and cleared a substantial amount of waste from the roadside. Along with the clean-up, they also interacted with people in the vicinity to spread awareness about responsible waste disposal and the importance of keeping public spaces clean.
Residents said the objective of the drive was not only to restore cleanliness but also to encourage citizens to refrain from littering and take collective responsibility for protecting the environment.
The volunteers have appealed to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the concerned authorities to install adequate waste disposal facilities, enhance surveillance in the area and initiate strict action against those found dumping garbage illegally.
They also urged citizens to recognise that maintaining clean surroundings is a shared civic responsibility and called upon other housing societies and local communities to undertake similar initiatives.
Residents of Lodha Belmondo expressed hope that the cleanliness drive would inspire more neighbourhoods across Pune to come together in promoting a cleaner, healthier and greener city.
